Abstract

The lockdown policy that has swept across the world during the COVID-19 pandemic is something completely new. Scientific support for such a policy is weak or non-existent. The negative impacts of mandatory restrictions on the national economy, public health and democratic rights and freedoms outweigh the possible short-term beneficial medical effects.

Keywords: Lockdowns, COVID-19, cost-benefit analysis, national economy, people's health, democratic rights and freedoms
