Structural Change and Service Sector Growth in Haryana

Abstract

Structural change Involves emergence and expansion of new economic activities,new industries and transformation of economy leading to improvements in human capital skills. Structural change occurs when an economy changes the way it functions. The present paper aims to understand the process of structural change and service sector growth in Haryana. Shift share Analysis has been used for this analysis. The tool decomposes the aggregate productivity into two Effects 1) Within Effect 2) Between Effect. The research results show that Haryana has been experiencing movement of labour from low productivity sectors to high productivity sectors.
