In 2019 the Kansas Supreme Court ruled that caps on noneconomic damages in lawsuits of the sort that the state's legislature had put in place were unconstitutional. A preliminary look at the data and the experience of other states suggests that insurance costs will go up in the state. The success and feasibility of proposed legal changes in the state to ameliorate its impact are uncertain.
