Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have generated a renewed focus on results-based management, inducing the development community to place more emphasis on creating corporate monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems that generate evidence. This new emphasis has been driven partly by the desire of donor countries to ensure accountability for funds provided to development institutions, and partly by the recognition that managing for results can improve the impact of interventions and generate lessons for subsequent activities in the same country or elsewhere.
