The aim of the paper is to study the business models of Agro Food Business concentrating especially to the case companies Nestle India and AMUL. The study focuses on Agro Food Industry in India, its evolution and the business models of case companies – Nestle and AMUL. These two companies have shown growth over last many years and are also following the best business practices in the Industry. The aim of the study is to identify the critical success factors and business models of these two companies.
Based on the existing literature concerning business models, and other related concepts by several authors, agri-food business model concept is defined and represented. The business model of Nestle India and AMUL was followed thoroughly by using available published material, company’s press releases, and articles. Beside this, comparison between the models of the two companies are presented in order to identify where one is ahead or behind of other. This will help companies to formulate their strategies by keeping in view of the factors essential for growth of the company.
