Abstract

Digital infrastructures under-gird virtually every area of human endeavor. Kalle Lyytinen was one of the early visionaries inquiring into the topic and his work provides a strong foundation of conceptual and empirical research. Lyytinen's empirical work spans multiple levels of analysis associated with digital infrastructures: including industrial fields, inter-organizational, and intra-organizational levels. This paper is a brief overview of Kalle Lyytinen's foundational work on digital infrastructures.
