Renewable Energy Options in North-Eastern India: Some Possibilities

Abstract

The present paper analyses the relevance of energy sector in general and the scope of renewable energy sources in particular in North-Eastern part of India. The cases of wind and solar energy are discussed along with their prospects and relative advantages over the conventional energy supply system and sources. The empirical analysis reflects that there is a vast scope of this type of energy sources in this region which hilly and difficult terrain where conventional energy supply is not economically possible and viable. The suitable incentives and systematic development would make renewable energy as an attractive alternative option for environmental friendly and long term beneficially.
