Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the key aspects of BRIC and MENA countries that have made them so appealing for M&A activity and also transformed these economies into major global players. We will first show that each region has some unique attraction factors that, fueled by fairly recent deregulation of markets, have helped shape the way in which foreign investments (especially through M&A activity) make their way into each area. We will pay special attention to the sector distribution of M&A deals and show how this breakdown reflects the uniqueness of each country and region.
